Description
Commercially known as Tween 20, it is a polysorbate-type surfactant whose stability and relative absence of toxicity allow it to be used as a detergent and emulsifier in numerous domestic, scientific, industrial, and pharmacological applications.
- Emulsifying agent: Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by altering interfacial tension (water and oil)
- Surfactant: Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the uniform distribution of the product when used
