Description

Sodium silicate (the common name for the compound sodium metasilicate), also known as water glass, is an inorganic substance with the formula Na2SiO3. It is found in aqueous solutions and also in solid form in many compounds, including cement, waterproofing agents, refractories, and textile and detergent processes.

Sodium silicate has been used as an ingredient in the manufacture of powder detergents for many years; this is because this chemical can be easily added to the detergent paste and helps achieve the desired viscosity and density in the detergent powder production.
