Miscible with most fixed oils, but not with castor oil. It is soluble in volatile oils. It is used as a component in cosmetic products, especially in creams. Carrier for essential oils for massage and in medicines. In food as a binder, defoamer, lubricant, release agent, fermentation aids, and protective coatings.
