Description
The alum mineral has deodorant and healing properties. Potassium alum or potassium aluminium sulfate (also called Neapolitan alum) is a double salt of aluminium and potassium dodecahydrate with the formula KAl(SO4)2.12H2O. It is a crystalline salt highly soluble in water, with a slight sweet and astringent taste. This salt comes in crystal form and belongs to the alum category, being the most common of them. It is used as a natural deodorant, thanks to its antiperspirant properties, in filters to clarify turbid water; in dyeing as a mordant; in leather tanning; to harden plaster.
