Description

Acetone or propanone is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CH3(CO)CH3 from the ketone group that occurs naturally in the environment. At room temperature it appears as a colourless liquid with a characteristic odour. It evaporates easily, is flammable and is soluble in water. Synthesised acetone is used in the manufacture of plastics, fibres, medicines and other chemicals, as well as a solvent for other chemical substances.
