Description
The neem oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the fruits and seeds of the Neem Tree, an evergreen tree endemic to the Indian subcontinent and introduced to many other tropical regions. This oil is perhaps the most commercially important product derived from the neem tree. It is used in agriculture and medicine.
It is used in the manufacture of cosmetics (soap, hair products, body creams, hand cream), and in Ayurvedic, Unani, and traditional medicine, it has been used for a wide range of conditions. The most cited use in ancient Ayurvedic scriptures was for its application in skin conditions, inflammations, and fevers, and more recently in rheumatic disorders, as an insect repellent, and as an insecticide.
