Description
Silicone oil, technically called dimethicone, is a silicone film-former found in skin lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos, some foods, contact lenses and elastomers. It creates a protective coating or shine on the surface. Dimethicone is one of several types of silicone oil and is the most widely used silicone polymer. It is known mainly for its ability to create a smooth coating on a surface and leave it protected without being sticky. Its properties include optical clarity, non-toxicity and non-flammability, and it is also considered an inert substance.
