Description

Partially hydrolyzed low molecular weight polyvinyl alcohol. Easily soluble in cold water, up to 6% concentrations, and water-alcohol mixtures. To dissolve, add the powder to cold water (or water-alcohol mixture) slowly, maintaining constant agitation.
To promote solubility, heat the solution to 90 °C while maintaining agitation. Polyvinyl Alcohol should never be poured directly into hot water. High-hardness water causes cloudy solutions. Use demineralized water.
For use as a fixative, it is recommended not to exceed a 3% concentration. It can be added to lime, cement, and plaster to provide thixotropy, greater mechanical strength, and better adhesion to substrates.
