Description

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), also known as caustic soda or lye, is a caustic hydroxide used in industry (primarily as a chemical base) in the manufacture of paper, textiles, and detergents, and is obtained from salt. In the soap-making process, an alkali, such as caustic soda, is generally used for the saponification of fats.
