AMMONIUM SULFATE 1 KG

4.50 imp. incl

Description

It is used as a flocculant and as a reagent in acid purification (provided proteins are soluble in a basic medium and in the presence of NaCl or potassium chloride) to precipitate soluble proteins.

Ammonium Sulfate is an excellent component for fractional precipitation because it causes water to compete between the dissolution of this salt or the protein (formed by many carboxyl and ammonium groups), causing the protein to precipitate with three amino acids.

In agriculture, it is widely used for both fertigation and direct soil application by vegetable growers.

Ammonium Sulfate is often obtained as a byproduct of nylon manufacturing. The frequency of sulfur deficiencies promotes its increased use as a source of Nitrogen (Amm.) and Sulfur (Sol.).
